The mould determines the part. Wall thickness distribution, surface quality, cycle time and demoulding behaviour are decided in the tool, not on the machine. A good mould saves many times its price over its service life – a poor one costs money on every single cycle.

The difference: acceptance testing before delivery

This is where tooling suppliers differ.

Every mould is run and accepted on a rotational moulding machine at the works before it ships. You do not receive a tool that still has to be commissioned at your site, but a mould that produces usable parts from the first cycle.

What that means in practice: no scrap during ramp-up, no reworking a tool that is already standing in your production hall, and no discussion about whether the mould or the machine is at fault. The date you can start producing is the delivery date – not some point after it.

Four constructions for different requirements

Machined aluminium
CNC-machined from solid. Highest dimensional accuracy and surface quality, tight tolerances, fine detail and lettering. The first choice for demanding geometries and high visual requirements.

Cast aluminium
Economical for large and high-volume moulds. Good thermal conductivity for even material distribution and short cycle times – the proven approach for tanks, containers and large-format parts.

Steel
Robust and wear-resistant. Steel moulds are the right choice for large parts with simpler geometries and wherever a mould has to withstand years of hard continuous use. They take mechanical stress better than aluminium and hold their dimensional accuracy over a high number of cycles.

Composite prototype moulds
For pre-series runs, sample parts and feasibility checks. Considerably cheaper and faster to obtain than a production mould. Worth considering when the geometry is not final and you want to see the actual part before investing in production tooling.

Which construction is the most economical for your part depends on geometry, quantity and planned service life. We will tell you openly where the extra cost of a machined mould pays off – and where it does not.

Magnetic clamping – shorter cycles, safer process

Conventional rotational moulds are bolted shut. That costs time on every cycle: undo the bolts, open the mould, demould, close, tighten again – on every mould, for every part.

Our magnetic clamping system replaces the bolted joint. The mould closes securely and evenly across the entire parting line, without any tool being applied. This shortens cycle time noticeably, takes strain off the operator and removes a source of error from the process: a forgotten or unevenly tightened bolt is no longer possible.

On large moulds with many clamping points in particular, the time saved adds up over a shift.

No limits in size or complexity

BOCA manufactures rotational moulds without restriction in size or complexity – from small technical components to tooling for vessels holding several thousand litres.

Multi-part moulds, moulds with inserts, threads, openings or integrated lettering are part of the standard programme.

From concept to finished mould

Design and engineering
An in-house team of engineers works with you from the first sketch. If your geometry is not yet suited to rotational moulding, we will tell you early – not once the tool has been built.

Modelling and manufacture
Pattern making, machining or casting, finishing and surface treatment in-house.

Acceptance testing
Trial runs on a rotational moulding machine at the works, using your material.

Spare parts and service
Spare and wear parts remain available. A mould is an investment over many years – we do not leave you alone with it.

That sounds like a detail, but it is the difference when something goes wrong: if a part does not come out as intended, the cause lies in the mould, in the material or in the process. A supplier who provides all three can find it – instead of passing it on.
